What this book is about
The sub title of this book is “Building a business when there are no easy answers” and that sums this book up pretty well. Ben Horowitz worked at Netscape in the early days of the web browser and went on to create a technology company that successfully survived the tech bubble and went on to be sold to Hewlett-Packard for over $1 billion. He currently runs a very successful blog and silicon valley investing firm. His business leadership knowledge is unquestionable and this book is a business must have. In fact I know a couple business owners who consult this book when they get stuck.
Some valuable information
Some of the great topics that are touched upon are, making the right hire and telling someones ambition, the importance of training employees, choosing and building an executive team, what its really like to be a CEO and how to handle the pressure, promotions, senior hires, org charts, and even firing a friend or hiring from a friends company.
Who I would recommend it to
Any person in charge of leading or managing others, or someone that must become intimate with the inner most workings of a business like a brand strategist or business consultant.
